DIARY OF A JAWNZ ENTHUSIAST

Sometime around 2013, I  discovered something that would change my life forever. Once I discovered jawnz, I never looked back. This blog is a collection of my thoughts on clothing, my relationship to clothes, and the interaction between clothing and the rest of the world.

"I need to be wearing a fleece."
I'm not here to kink shame this guy for needing to be wearing his beloved Patagucci fleece in order to get off. Actually, with the way the Patagonia snap-T has been worshipped by jawnz enthusiasts, I don't even find it that surprising. I, myself don't own any of the infamous fleeces, though I leaned hard into the 5 inch baggie trend last summer. But I can't blame this guy, or anyone else for loving the snap-T. It has been around since 1985 for a reason.

Most of that longevity can be attributed to Patagonia's innovation in terms of fabric and use of recycled materials. They're a great brand with a great ethos that people can get behind and not feel like they're ruining the planet with their consumption. However, as our consumption has reached levels we've never seen before, one of the biggest driving forces of this trend - men consuming fashion like they never have before (aka us jawnz enthusiasts) - have hopped right on the Patagonia bandwagon like we've been here since day 1.

We're why Cam Wolf wrote this piece for GQ about a womenswear designer making the fleece all us jawnz enthusiasts want. And this is no ordinary fleece - if you thought Patagonia was asking a lot for guys to pay $140 for a pullover you'll pass out when you see the price of this Sandy Liang piece. This MF clocks in at $525. It's official, the fleece is here to stay. We all drank the polarfleece koolaid and now that guys are paying more than half a grand for a women's sweatshirt, we can never go back.
